Garden Route Open Source Software User Group

What is Open Source?

Open Source is a different approach to the development of computer software. Normally, the source code of the software stays the property of the company that wrote it and is shared with no-one.

With open source, the source code is shared so that it can be modified and distributed freely all over the Internet. This carries the advantages that many more developers from all over the world can contribute and improve the software.

For more information please see the Wikipedia page on Free software.

What is the GROSSUG?

The Garden Route Open Source Software User Group (GROSSUG) is a non-profit organisation to promote open source software and development in the Garden Route. We also wish to act as a central base for the local open source community to share ideas and coordinate efforts.
